Linoleum Express: Linolschnitt // Linocut Workshop
With the Linocut Workshop at Kulturlabor Trial & Error e.V. (and its mobile version „Linoleum Express“), we are adding some colour to our workshop pallett!
Linoleum printing is among the oldest reproductive printing techniques in the world, representing the legacy of blockprinting with wood-carved blocks.
Linoleum is a relatively soft natural material, originally consisting of linseed oil pressed with plant matter into a thin carveable material. Today‘s artist linoleum is mostly a mix of this with some rubber elements to make it softer, bring more smoothness to your carving process and to make it more enduring.
Because of its relative ease of use, linoleum cutting and -printing are great for exploring the opportunities of analog printing on any material, be it paper, wood, textile or practically anything else. With the tools available today, linocut is not the dusty, old handicraft from your boring school day memories but a blast of modern graphics with fresh colours, multiple layers and sharp outlines.
Because Linocut occupies the brain in a comprehensive process and coordinates the two brain halves with hands and eyes to work on a carve resembling a mirrored image, the technique is also used in therapeutical work to train and foster the ability to focus.
Book or come to one of our workshops for a proper introduction into the topic and custom guidance along your desired project process, be it a wall-piece, classic framed art, a custom skateboard deck print or your first upcycling fashion items.
The workshops are facilitated by Luc and a skilled team of print-making artists. They take place on most Saturdays; stay up to date in our calendar and on social media.
We are happy to see you there!
